According to essays and stories written by Raymond Carver, the minimalist principle aims to show the basic features of a subject and minimize unnecessary clutter. In terms of design, it aims to maximize a given small space where the more a person can get a full use of a compact space, the more the person achieves minimalism. Exploring this principle by applying it to your life also means redefining your life to focus on important things, reducing things that you do not need in your life.

This is the reason why I am a fan of the Japanese culture. When I bought my first car, which was a Toyota Camry, I realized how much the minimalist principle was applied to the whole concept of car-making. I am not saying that Japanese cars are over-simplified and unattractive up to some point. It's just that when it comes to the full value of your money, a Japanese car always delivers. Efficiency is something that they have mastered because of the minimalist principle.
