Owners of the NA-model 1.6 Mazda MX-5/Eunos Roadster can massage some extra power out of the B6 engine using Civinco''s new plug-and-play standalone ECU (part number SA500G3).

Supplied complete with patch loom, the Civinco ECU is fully programmable for fuel, ignition, rev limit, cold start behaviour and can even be mapped for use with E85 bio-ethanol (you can tell this comes from Sweden, can''t you?).

Different maps can be uploaded with the included ''Tune Cards'', saving you dragging the laptop out to the car, and it can even work as a handy security measure; load a zero fuel map and someone trying to drive off with your car will have a hard time of it!

By removing the air flow meter and using a 2.5-bar MAP sensor, the ECU can easily handle forced induction engines running up to 1.5bar of boost pressure (mappable as a function of rpm and throttle).

And it even yields significant results on a standard engine – in testing, Civinco has seen an extra 10bhp at 4000rpm.
