How
long have you been with the magazine? |
Since
the beginning back in December 1999 |
| |
What
does your job involve? |
Ensuring all
164 pages are filled with the finest Japanese
cars from all four corners of the globe.
This means finding the feature cars, organising
photoshoots (photographers and locations),
interviewing owners, writing articles so
they're interesting, informative and technically
correct, and assisting the design department
in laying out the feature.
I also like to liaise with companies, tuners
and clubs to keep my finger on the pulse
of the scene. During the summer months it
also means practically every weekend is
taken up with a show of some sort. |
| |
What's
the best bit about your job? |
I get to travel
quite a lot, though generally it's SAS style
quick in and quick out, leaving no time for
sight-seeing. I also love the feedback from
owners who are really appreciative of the
way the features on their cars come out. |
| |
What's
the worst bit about your job? |
Can I have more
than one thing again? Early mornings, long
days, constant deadlines and not taking enough
holidays. |
| |
What
did you do before working on Banzai? |
I wrote for a number
of other specialist car titles. But before
then I had my own signwriting business, specialising
in car graphics. |
| |
What
car do you drive? |
A 1987 AE86 Corolla
GT Coupe and a 1991 EC8 Honda Civic as a daily
driver. |
| |
Favourite
film and favourite drink? |
Can't really choose
between The Usual Suspects and LA Confidential;
I also can't really choose between Tuborg
Gold and Cobra.

How
long have you been with the magazine? |
Since May
2004 |
| |
What
does your job involve? |
I'm in charge of the
'regulars' - the news, clubs, motorsport pages etc
and write one or two of the feature articles in
each issue. Once the features have been laid out
by the design department, I 'bag up' the articles
and send them off to the repro house. This means
ensuring all the photos are marked up, filed and
allocated to the right position in the feature. |
| |
What's the best
bit about your job? |
Being able to do something I love
and get paid for it. |
| |
What's the worst bit about
your job? |
The money - this isn't a job that'll
make you rich. Working weekends seriously disrupts
my social life. |
| |
What did you do before working
on Banzai? |
I was a library assistant. Not much
else you can say about that, is there? I'm only
a bit of a geek! |
| |
What car do you drive? |
A 1995 EJ Honda Civic Coupé. |
| |
Favourite film and favourite
drink? |
It's a tie between three car films:
Gone in 60 Seconds, The Fast and the Furious, 2
Fast 2 Furious; Corona with a slice of lime. |

How long have
you been with the magazine? |
I started in July 2001 on Performance BMW and moved on to Banzai in December 2001. Ages! |
| |
What does your
job involve? |
Helping
people promote their companies by organising advertising
space and campaigns in the magazine. Obviously,
I like to ensure all my clients are kept happy by
giving them the best position I can. Ooh er, missus! |
| |
What's the best bit about
your job? |
Meeting the clients, going to all the shows and talking on the phone all day! |
| |
What's the worst bit about
your job? |
Having to collect money from naughty
people who don't pay, and being moaned at by the
accounts department. |
| |
What did you do before working
on Banzai? |
I worked for a weekly car classified magazine and local newspapers. |
| |
What car do you drive? |
It’s a Mitsubishi Colt CZT turbo that I stole from Joe! |
| |
Favourite film and favourite
drink? |
My favourite film is PRETTY WOMAN, I also like films with a good twist at the end and some of the kids films like Shrek. |
